  • Additional Note

    USSSA Parkland Summer Sprint Rules

This is not your usual tournament. Please read carefully, as these rules differ from normal playing rules.

    • Game Schedule:
      • 3 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.
      • In age groups with an odd number of total teams, one team will play four games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. One of the first four games played on Saturday will not count in the standings for the team playing four games. This game will be drawn out of a box after the fourth game is played.
    • Game Duration:
      • All games are 60 minutes with a DROP-DEAD TIME.
      • When the clock expires, if a batter has had a pitch thrown to them, they complete their at-bat, and then the game is over.
      • We are NOT reverting back to the last complete inning. It is an advantage to be the VISITOR when choosing HOME or VISITOR.
    • Batting and Base Running:
      • 8U
        • Normal batting and running rules apply
      • 10U and 12U
        • All batters begin their at-bat with a 1-1 count (1 ball and 1 strike).
        • All teams begin each inning with a runner at second base. That runner is the last completed at-bat (not necessarily the last recorded out)
    • Tournament Format:
      • There is no full bracket in this tournament. Once all teams have played their 5 games, the top 4 teams in 10U and 12U will play in a mini-bracket: #1 vs #4, and #2 vs #3. The winners of these games will play for the Championship.
      • In the 8U division, the top 2 teams will play for the Championship.
      • In the event of a tie in the championship when time expires, that inning is over, and extra innings begin under the same format until there is a winner with no time restriction.
    • Conduct and Sportsmanship:
      • Welcome to Parkland. All play on these fields is for the young ladies, not the coaches or parents in the stands. Should you feel the need to make the game about you, please do so in the parking lot.
      • All umpires are assumed to be correct (even when they are not). Coaches may call a time-out to discuss a call or rule with an umpire. However, parents are not allowed to do so. There is ZERO tolerance for arguing with umpires, and you will be asked to leave the premises if you do so.

Thank you for playing in the USSSA Parkland Summer Sprint event.
